Codeego Launches AI-Powered Certified Software Valuation, Creating a New Category for Software Asset Assurance

The London-based company introduces a Trusted Third Party model that uses AI to measure the technical, economic and operational value of software.

Codeego today announces the launch of AI-powered Certified Software Valuation, a new category for organisations that need to understand, verify and evidence the value and risk of software.

Software is now one of the most critical assets inside companies, banks, public institutions and technology businesses. It powers operations, products, customer services, compliance workflows and digital infrastructure. Yet in many organisations, software is still treated as a technical cost centre rather than a measurable asset with financial value, operational risk and governance implications.

Codeego changes that.

The platform uses AI-assisted code analysis to examine a codebase at speed, identify engineering signals, evaluate software maturity and convert technical evidence into an independent Technical and Economic Valuation issued by Codeego as a Trusted Third Party. Supporting evidence is sealed and timestamped through QTSP services. Each report gives decision-makers a clear view of what the software contains, how mature it is, what risks it carries, how production-ready it is and what economic value can be attributed to it.

This creates a new category between technical due diligence, software audit, cyber risk assessment, asset valuation and governance reporting.

Existing tools can identify vulnerabilities, licence exposure, code quality issues or engineering productivity signals. Traditional consultants can conduct manual reviews over several weeks. Codeego brings these fragmented processes into one AI-powered valuation layer, connecting technical evidence to financial, operational and governance impact.

Software is the primary asset in most technology transactions. In 2024, an estimated $640 billion changed hands in tech M&A globally. In the overwhelming majority of those deals, the codebase, the asset being acquired, was never independently assessed. Valuations were negotiated, not certified. At the same time, the EU Cyber Resilience Act and DORA now require organisations to prove what their software contains, converting compliance state into a quantifiable financial liability. The conditions for a verified software asset class are no longer theoretical. They are regulatory.

Certified Software Valuation is relevant far beyond fundraising and M&A.

  • IT teams can use Codeego to assess the quality, maintainability and production readiness of internal systems, vendor platforms, AI-generated code and legacy software.

  • CFOs can use it to quantify software as an asset, support capitalisation decisions, assess impairment risk, validate technology investment and understand the financial exposure created by weak or undocumented code.

  • Internal audit teams can use it to test whether critical software assets are documented, secure, observable, maintainable and aligned with internal control requirements.

  • Risk and compliance teams can use it to create an evidence trail around software resilience, third-party technology exposure, dependency risk, AI-assisted development risk and regulatory readiness.

  • Banks and financial institutions can use it to support ICT risk management, vendor assurance, operational resilience reviews, digital transformation oversight and regulatory reporting.

  • Intervención General, public sector audit and supervisory bodies can use it to independently verify the quality, value and risk of software developed or procured with public funds.

  • Procurement teams can use it to assess whether delivered software corresponds to what was contracted, whether vendor claims are supported by evidence and whether future maintenance costs are likely to increase.

  • Legal teams can use it in disputes, shareholder conflicts, insolvency proceedings, IP valuation, expert evidence and software delivery claims.

  • Investors and M&A teams can use it to screen targets, validate founder claims, identify hidden technical debt and support valuation negotiations before deeper due diligence.

  • For founders Codeego provides a way to defend the value of a codebase before fundraising, acquisition or strategic partnership discussions.

Each Codeego assessment uses AI to review the codebase across key dimensions including security, code quality, dependencies, documentation, observability, test coverage, error handling and economic value. The result is a Software Valuation Report with a Production Readiness Score, technical findings, economic valuation logic and an Evidence Certificate.

The difference is certified AI-powered valuation.

Codeego does not simply flag technical issues. It uses AI to turn software evidence into a certified valuation and assurance report that can be used by financial, technical, legal, audit and governance teams. It gives organisations a common language for software value, software risk and software accountability.

“AI is changing how software is built, but organisations still need to know what that software is worth, whether it is reliable and what risk it carries. Codeego uses AI to make software value visible, measurable and certifiable. Software is no longer just an engineering concern. It is a financial asset, an operational dependency and, in many cases, the core value of the organisation.”

Saioa Echebarria, President, Codeego

The launch comes at a time when software risk is becoming a board-level issue. Regulation, cyber resilience requirements, third-party ICT risk, vendor dependency, AI-assisted development and digital transformation spending are forcing organisations to understand not only whether software works, but whether it is secure, maintainable, resilient, economically defensible and properly governed.

Certified Software Valuation is available now from Codeego, with reports starting from £99.
